Poltava

My first completed painting made in photoshop! Continuing with the theme from the last painting, futuristic swedish soldiers. The armor design is inspired from 18th century soldier uniforms, and more specifically the swedish Karoliner soldiers of the era. It started from the helmet more or less which got inspired by the tricorne hats of that era.
Made it to schoolwork as the cover art for a fake dvd-cover. Made up a storyline for the synopsis on the cover too: The year is 2042, and the final assualt on the Russian Empire's stronghold in Poltava by the Swedish superpower will begin, avenging the defeat of 1709. Anna Wikseus, a soldier, is wounded in the battle and is presumed dead, but a romani woman named Nadya finds and takes care of her, and Anna begins a new path in her life, a path where she can't view her country the same way she did before.
So basically a dystopian critique on nationalism, though the story is very vague and cliché. But I might just try and develop the idea, seing how nationalism, sadly, is on the rise here in europe.
